Thank you for visiting my page! My name is Lisa and I am a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing program in 2012. After graduation I first worked in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). I gained skills and experience in the most critical of situations, such as performing CPR during a Code Blue.

My father had previously been diagnosed with cancer and I felt passionate about spending some time working in oncology. After working the in ICU, I began working on early and late phase clinical trials in the area of oncology. I became an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation after studying their curriculum and passing the exam. Being a part of cutting-edge oncology treatments I witnessed some patients with Stage IV cancer receive trial treatments and go into complete remission!

After giving birth to my first son I decided that I wanted to take my nursing career in a different direction. The nurses played a big role in my recovery after an emergency c-section and taught me how to breastfeed which motivated me to work with new mamas and babies. I was hired at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 2015 and began working on the Mother/Baby (Postpartum) Unit.  Working at Cedars-Sinai provided me with hands-on experience and great knowledge about newborn assessment, newborn care, breastfeeding, lactation, infant feeding, labor interventions, pain management and postpartum care for mothers who have delivered both vaginally and by cesarean section.

After having my second baby I decided that I wanted to take my life in a different path that would allow me to spend more time with my own children but still work with families and newborn babies. In the Summer of 2018 I started South Bay Baby Care with the goal of sharing my knowledge and expertise with expectant and new parents in the areas of newborn care, breastfeeding & lactation, sleep routines, labor basics, postpartum care, and CPR + First Aid. I also provide CPR + First Aid training to businesses, schools, professionals and groups.

Thank you for considering me to support you during your journey as a parent! I look forward to making this transition a bit easier for you and your baby.

Sincerely,

Lisa Grossman, RN, BSN, PHN, IBCLC, CLC, CLEC, AHA-certified CPR + First Aid Instructor
