Lactation Support Increases Breastfeeding Duration

An interesting new report was published in the Journal of Women's Health written by Jimi Francis and Darby Dickton, titled "Preventive Health Application to Increase Breastfeeding."

This study found that mother/baby couplets seen by an IBCLC on day 3 of life are 2 1/2 times more likely to continue exclusive breastfeeding at 6 weeks of life (when compared to those who had not been seen).

You can read the article in it's entirety by clicking on this link: http://doi.org/10.1089/jwh.2018.7477

I will be sitting for the IBCLC board exam in less than 3 weeks! I have completed all of the clinical hours and educational hours required to take the exam. Taking and passing the examination is the next step in my journey of building upon my credentials!

Cheers,
